Chase Holfelder is a musician who regularly releases new work, all of which has his own unique spin. Holfelder’s artistic genius is particularly needed and welcomed given the staleness of so much music today. His music is, simply, enjoyable and original. (And includes history!)
Holfelder has a series of videos where he takes songs usually performed in a major-key and sings them in a minor-key. He has versions of “The Star-Spangled Banner,” “I Will Always Love You,” “Girls Just Want To Have Fun,” “Amazing Grace,” “Over The Rainbow,” “My Country, ‘Tis Of Thee,” “What A Wonderful World,” and many others. The ones named are some of my favorites.
Holfelder’s version of “My Country, ‘Tis Of Thee” uses a different set of lyrics than you have probably heard before! Check it out….the Abolitionist Version of this classic:
As you can see from looking at his work, he almost always does layered videos – he is singing multiple parts, and he plays a variety of instruments.
His versions of “Over The Rainbow” and “Beauty And The Best” really show how powerful his vocals are:
He also does more traditional covers occasionally, such as in the case of Adele’s “Hello.” But, even his covers, are far from the typical cover:
So take a listen to some of his music! His songs are all available on iTunes, too. Let me know what you think!
