The kind of hate mail that can come when you point out any kind of oppression can be really depressing:
Andrew, I see we have another ignorant, unpatriotic liberal in our midst. Take your liberal ideas, obama’s and live in Iran. We don’t need your kind in America. You tramp on our flag and disrespect all that have fought and died to save this nation from these types of people.
(This is not the place to analyze this comment; although, we really could!)
This one came from a while back, but it’s one that I have saved. Because of current circumstances, I know more more and more of us are speaking up more and more often. Continuing speaking up and voicing fairness, but be prepared for hateful comments. Be prepared for the possibility of death threats and rape threats from trolls. Be prepared to be shocked.
But keep fighting the good fight.
First Lady Michelle Obama’s advise is wise:
When they go low, we go high.
As our her husband’s words:
When our laws, our leaders, or our government are out of alignment with our ideals, then the dissent of ordinary Americans may prove to be one of the truest expressions of patriotism.
Always advocate for diversity, inclusion, and knowledge…because we have no choice.
